The Whitlock Golf and Country Club warmly welcomed our club members for our Christmas luncheon. Notably, this was the final event of our 70th anniversary celebration year. To mark the occasion, a souvenir glass etched with our 70th anniversary logo was given to all attendees. It was a memorable afternoon of fine dining in a beautiful setting and all those present enjoyed themselves immensely. New friends were made and old friendships renewed throughout the banquet room.
Every table was a hub of activity and camaraderie. An incredible array of donated gifts and memorabilia made for a frenzy of bidding for the Silent Auction items while ticket sales for the unique Raffle items made the day all the more exciting. Several club members were honoured with our annual trophies which are actually repurposed hardware from our history. A big thank you to members who donated their awards for our annual presentation.
Congratulations to all of our award winners:
Car of the Year: Duncan Taylor
Badass Car of the Year: Josée Normandin
Rookie of the Year: Peter Sanderson
Driver of the Year: Philip Habib
Bryan Ball Memorial Trophy: Bill Smyth
With all the tables cleared, with all the happy attendees now departing, with thoughts of our members who were unable to join in, and with great memories to be cherished, the closing event for our 70th Anniversary celebration year came to a fabulous end.
Our fundraising goal this year was to support the Native Women's Shelter and our club did so in grand style. In total, the sum of $1,426 was raised to assist this most worthy cause. The gift will be presented to them as soon as possible.
